Campania’s Return to Normalcy: Rigorous Monitoring Continues

Governor Vincenzo De Luca assures the region’s residents that the situation regarding returning citizens is under control. In a special video address, he detailed the extensive screening procedures implemented: Approximately two thousand individuals arriving in Campania by various modes of transportation underwent checks yesterday. Fifteen individuals exhibited temperatures exceeding 37.5 degrees Celsius, prompting 320 rapid tests and 19 more thorough swab tests. Seventeen tests returned negative results, with two pending. Around six hundred individuals have been advised to self-isolate for a fortnight, though testing will be employed to potentially shorten this period. Intensive monitoring will persist, leveraging the expertise of local health authorities, the regional civil protection agency, and law enforcement. This will encompass key transport hubs: Aversa, Caserta, Villa Literno, Naples, Salerno, and Benevento train stations; Capodichino Airport; and numerous motorway toll plazas across the region. Access to the islands will resume from next Monday. The governor stressed the continued importance of mask-wearing to curtail the virus’s spread, stating that Campania is steadily returning to a state of normalcy. Economic recovery plans are moving forward, with meetings scheduled with various business sectors—including hospitality, sports, and personal care—to address their needs and concerns. The government retains ultimate authority on these sectors, but the governor will submit their requests to support their recovery. Meanwhile, the region has disbursed financial aid to 4500 businesses and 3300 professionals, with an additional 20,000 legal practitioners to receive assistance starting tomorrow.
