The Ravello music festival continues its vibrant season with three captivating concerts beginning September 18th, showcasing a diverse range of musical styles and exceptional artists. The performance will include works by Jacob ter Veldhuis, Csaba Zoltàn Marjàn, Rüdiger Pawassar, Iannis Xenakis, and Nebojsha Zivkovic. The talented performers include percussionists Vincenzo De Leo, Antonella Fazio, and Niccolò Fino, alongside cellists Federica Del Gaudio and Marcello Sette, and the ensemble led by Giuseppe Grassi. The program will also highlight arrangements of pieces by Edward Elgar, Giuseppe Verdi, Pietro Mascagni, Enrique Granados, Niccolò van Westerhout, Nino Rota, Dmitri Shostakovich, and Ennio Morricone, with arrangements by Michele Cellaro, Marcio Carneiro, Michele Galvagno, and Francesco Tanzi.
The following evening, Thursday, September 19th, at 7 PM, also in the Auditorium, a special tribute to Nino Rota will mark the fortieth anniversary of his passing. This concert in the “City of Music” will explore the multifaceted talents of Rota, encompassing his chamber works, his beloved film scores, and celebrated songs. The performance will feature iconic melodies from films such as *Parla più piano*, *Cabiria*, and *The Godfather*, along with suites from films including *Amarcord*, *Rocco and His Brothers*, *8½*, *The Leopard*, with arrangements and instrumentation by Nicola Scardicchio.
Finally, on Friday, September 20th, at 7 PM, the fourth installment of “Le note di Sigilgaita” will focus on the majestic organ. Michel Bouvard, a renowned French organist, will grace the Duomo’s magnificent organ. Currently holding prestigious positions in France, including the organ professorship at the CSNM in Paris (shared with Olivier Latry) since 1995, and titular organist at the Saint-Sernin Basilica in Toulouse, home to the monumental Cavaillé-Coll organ (3458 pipes) inaugurated in 1889 by Alexandre Guilmant, Bouvard’s performance will feature French organ works, bookended by organ transcriptions of instrumental music by Bach and Mozart, with the participation of Bouvard’s wife, Yasuko Uyama, the organist of the baroque organ at Saint-Pierre des Chartreux in Toulouse.
