The Picentia Short Film Festival has revealed the thirty shortlisted films competing in its third edition. Announced via social media and the FilmFreeway website, these cinematic works will be showcased across five evenings, from September 11th to 15th. The festival’s open call for submissions, running from early January to July 7th, attracted 251 entries from 40 countries spanning Europe, Asia, Oceania, the Americas, and Africa. The selection process was rigorous, with the festival director highlighting the difficult task of choosing only thirty finalists. The lineup includes diverse genres and international talent. “Past&Future,” a new addition this year (September 11th), features titles such as Pierfrancesco Bigazzi’s “Moon on Fire” (ITA, 2018), Clement and Pierre Labarre’s “Le passage” (FRA, 2018), and Gokalp Gonen’s “Avarya” (TUR, 2019). The “Docs” section (September 12th) will showcase films including Olga Delane’s “Dorotchka” (RUS/GER, 2018) and Vito Palmieri’s “From Tower Tv that’s all” (ITA, 2019). September 13th presents the “Horror&Thriller” category with entries like Alessandro Izzo’s “Twinky Doo’s Magic World” (ITA, 2017) and Nicolò Tagliabue’s “Gratia Plena” (ITA, 2019). “Drama&Social” (September 14th) includes works such as Valerio Manisi’s “Live Life” (ITA, 2019) and Daniele Barbiero’s “The essence of everything” (ITA/ENG, 2018). Finally, the “Comedy&Comic” section (September 15th) will feature films like Francesco Giorgi’s “Stop” (ITA, 2018) and Lorenzo Marinelli’s “Vale la pena” (ITA, 2019). Each evening will award two prizes: one determined by a panel of film experts, and the other by audience vote. The judging panel, which will also include festival guests, will be revealed soon on the festival’s social media and website. Festival organizers express immense satisfaction with both the volume and quality of submissions, emphasizing the high caliber of the finalists. The final decisions now rest with the judges and audience members, ready to crown the winners of this year’s Picentia Short Film Festival.
