Ahead of the Molossi’s first away match of the second half of the season against Locri in Calabria, defender Massimiliano Montuori addressed the media following Saturday’s training session at the San Francesco stadium. The seasoned Nocerina player began by discussing their upcoming opponents, highlighting the differences between this encounter and their September draw: “We must disregard the first half of the season, despite our good performance and points tally. Tomorrow, maintaining the right attitude is paramount.” The team finished the year amidst a challenging period marked by injuries and difficult matches. Despite this, two crucial points secured against Turris and Marsala showcased the squad’s resilience. “That’s our strength,” Montuori stated. “Even those who play less in training always give their all, and when called upon, they deliver outstanding performances.” Having recently returned from a significant injury lay-off, Montuori made his league debut against Marsala and may feature again tomorrow: “It hasn’t been easy for me after such a long absence. Regardless of the coach’s decisions, I always train to the best of my ability. I hope I’ve made a good impression on Viscido. I, along with others, have grown up watching Nocerina—there’s nothing more to say.” The relatively easier opening fixtures of the return leg could significantly boost the team’s points total in their pursuit of safety, even with significant roster changes among their competitors. Montuori observed, “We’ve remained largely unchanged, which I believe is a positive aspect. New arrivals often destabilize the team environment, but that hasn’t been the case here.” Coach Gerardo Viscido received a mixed bag of news: Ruggiero’s return after a month-long absence is positive; however, goalkeeper Feola (calf problem) and Iodice will be absent in Calabria. Odierna, Orlando, and Giorgio also remain unavailable, though all are nearing a return. The following 21 players have been called up for the Locri-Nocerina match scheduled for Sunday, January 6th, at 2:30 PM at the “Macrì” stadium: Goalkeepers: Novelli, Ruocco; Defenders: Ansalone, Caso, Grillo, Montuori, Salto, Vuolo; Midfielders: Branchi, Califano, Cardone, De Feo, Di Crosta, Festa, Pecora, Ruggiero, Vatiero; Forwards: Amendola, Capaccio, Riccio, Simonetti; Unavailable: Coulibaly, Feola, Giorgio, Iodice, Odierna, Orlando, Tipaldi (injured).
