H2O & Harmony: Concerts and Community Dialogue on Water Conservation

A vibrant community event, “H2O & Harmony,” seamlessly blending music and environmental advocacy, was unveiled today at City Hall. This initiative, scheduled for Sunday, October 1st, at 7 PM at the municipal playground (with the municipal Diana Theatre serving as a rain alternative), will commence with a public forum centered on the crucial issue of water conservation. Following the discussion, a musical showcase will feature the launch of Luca “Joe” Petrosino’s third album, “PETRO,” at 9:30 PM, followed by a performance by the Neapolitan collective, “Terroni Uniti,” concluding at 10:30 PM.

The event is lauded by the Councilor for Youth and Cultural Policies, Federica Fortino, as a powerful opportunity for community engagement and critical discourse. She emphasized the importance of addressing often-overlooked issues like local environmental protection and the responsible management of our most precious resource – water. The collaboration between local associations, the municipality, and young activists, she stressed, promises to spark innovative ideas and future initiatives.

Claudio D’Angelo, president of Arci Punto Lab, a cultural association actively involved in the community for two years, highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts between diverse organizations. The event, he stated, is a significant step towards raising public awareness through the unifying power of music.

Luca Petrosino explained his decision to unveil “PETRO,” funded through crowdfunding, in his hometown, emphasizing his ongoing commitment to social activism. The album’s theme, he said, directly confronts the critical issue of water scarcity. The discussion portion, titled “The Last Drop,” underscores the urgency for change, highlighting the need for immediate governmental action in the face of growing community concern. Petrosino’s remarks were countered by Federico Piccolo, Councilor for the Environment and Territory, who stated that municipal authorities are actively working to facilitate necessary changes within the framework of existing legislation and adhering to relevant timelines.

Numerous local organizations have pledged their support, including the Territory Defense Network, Legambiente Leonia Sarno Valley Circle, Nocera Inferiore Public Water Committee, Ridiamo Vita al Castello, No Tanks Committee, Gi.Fra. Sant’Antonio Nocera Inferiore, CGIL Nidil – Nocera Inferiore, Angri Idea Workshop, Civil Front – Stay Angri, and Cava de’ Tirreni Pueblo Space.
