Atreju 20th Anniversary: A Gathering of Italian Right-Wing Figures

The twentieth annual Atreju festival, themed “It’s Time for Patriots,” concluded its three-day run in Rome at the Officine Farneto. Organized by Giorgia Meloni, president of Brothers of Italy – National Alliance (FdI-An), the event drew a large crowd, including numerous FdI-An members from the Salerno region. Provincial coordinators Nanni Marsicano, Ugo Tozzi, and Imma Vietri hailed the gathering’s significant success and participation. Among the attendees were regional council member Alberico Gambino, provincial council member Giuseppe Fabbricatore, along with party officials, local representatives, and supporters.

The festival served as a platform to outline the center-right’s future strategy and advocate for a patriotic alliance prioritizing Italian interests. Participants highlighted key concerns: staunch opposition to the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) to safeguard Italian manufacturing, criticism of the agreement’s limited recognition of Italian brands; the immigration crisis, with accusations of a demographic replacement plan by the Democratic Party (PD); unwavering support for law enforcement officers facing dangerous conditions and meager salaries; and a resolute rejection of automatic citizenship (“ius soli”), advocating for earned citizenship through demonstrated commitment. Furthermore, the gathering included calls for challenging the Fiscal Compact and renegotiating other unfavorable treaties, emphasizing a need to end wasteful government spending and fostering economic opportunities for Italians. Speakers criticized the economic policies of former Prime Minister Renzi and the PD, emphasizing a commitment to prioritize Italian citizens’ well-being and bridging the socioeconomic gap between Italy’s north and south. The escalating violence against women, linked to uncontrolled immigration, was also a focus.

Notable participants from the Campania region included MP Edmondo Cirielli, who contributed to a discussion on globalization, nihilism, and the contrasting nationalistic responses of Putin and Trump, alongside Tg1’s deputy director Gennaro Sangiuliano, diplomat Giulio Terzi di Sant’Agata, and regional coordinator Antonio Iannone, who spoke at the FdI National Assembly ahead of the party congress.
